How To Sell Your Moto Product Online
2020 has been a strange and wild ride thus far. For many, it’s been a wake-up call. So many brands in our sport have had success over the past several years, decades at times, doing what they’ve always done. No major change was needed so they just kept chugging along because “Why fix what isn’t broken.” right?
Insert the COVID19 pandemic and the shutdown of the world as we knew it. All of a sudden, anyone who relied on door swings to generate revenue was left standing there wondering how they would survive the month, let alone the next six months. No one was allowed to come into your stores at first but now the bigger problem is after several weeks/months of “lockdown” many are not willing to come into your store even though you’ve reopened.
On the flip side, let’s look at those who adapted with the times prior to the pandemic and had an online presence, a way for customers to purchase products online. A friend of Impakt’s commented that “We’ve had the best June and July in 30 years!” Our customers that were seeing successes before the pandemic are seeing 4x-10x the success now. Those that had online stores that did okay now have stores that are on fire and they struggle to keep their inventory stocked.
The situation is what it is, you missed this boat but what can you do as we move forward to ensure you never have to worry about this again. Even more so, what can you do to be prepared as this nation has been forced to become more of an e-commerce society than ever before because while things will reopen and life will eventually get back to normal, I predict that we will see more people buying online moving forward than ever before. New habits have been formed that are convenient for the buyer. Those won’t go away.
Getting The Ball Rolling
Here are a few things you can do right now to prepare for tomorrow and days to come.
- Choose the CORRECT online store solution. Not all websites are created equal. The best e-commerce solution has been and will continue to be Shopify.
- Understand the importance of paid social media advertising. It’s not the field of dreams “If you build it, they will come.” does not exist in this world. You will need to leverage Facebook ads, Instagram ads, Youtube ads to get the attention of your target audience and turn that attention into traffic to your website. Visit www.thinkimpakt.com to learn how they do just that for their clients.
- They will not buy when they visit your site. You read that correctly. Did your wife say yes on to marrying you on your first date? Chances are your future customers won’t buy the first time they hit your site. In fact, 70% of your traffic will leave the first time without purchasing. Use remarketing to bring those prospects back and turn them into buyers.
- The best place to find more gold is where you found it in the first place. If I purchased one thing from you, chances are that I will purchase more so don’t forget about me. Use techniques like email marketing to your customers to remind them of what else you offer, sales, and special offers. This can increase your average order value by as much as 60%!
Missing the boat yesterday doesn’t mean you have to miss the next one that passes. Feeling sorry for yourself won’t fix the problem. Take action, ask questions, and put together a plan that will allow you to win moving forward.
